Pinot Nero Grape Variety

The Pinot Nero grape variety is grown mainly in the north of Italy, ie in Lombardy, the Veneto and Trentino-Alto Aldige, where it is best known for use in making sparkling wines. It is known for being difficult to cultivate with a low yield and resistance to disease. The wines produced with Pinot Nero grapes generally have strong tannins and acidity. It can have a bouquet ranging from fruity and floral when young to leather, tobacco, and spices, when aged.

We visit wineries, restaurants and other highlights to give you the information you need to plan a great trip to Italy. We can design itineraries, advise on bookings and show you the Italy that the tour companies don’t tell you about.
