Negroamaro Grape Variety

The Negroamaro grape variety, indigenous to Italy, is grown almost exclusively in Puglia. It can produce wines with a very deep colour and which are high in alcohol. It can have a bouquet of tobacco and liquorice, and flavours of black fruits, black pepper, and juniper. Some of the best Pugliese wines are made from this grape variety, particularly Salice Salentino, where the Negroamaro is blended with Malvasia Nera.

We visit wineries, restaurants and other highlights to give you the information you need to plan a great trip to Italy. We can design itineraries, advise on bookings and show you the Italy that the tour companies don’t tell you about.
