Merlot Grape Variety
Merlot is an international grape variety. In Italy the Merlot grape variety is cultivated primarily in the Veneto, Sicily, Tuscany, and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Merlot is used both as a blending grape and for varietal wines. It is often blended with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine produced with Merlot is often full-bodied, dry red wine. It has thinner skins and milder tannins.
