This is a deservedly famous Tuscan DOCG  made from 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in the area around the beautiful hilltop town of Montalcino in Tuscany. The wines are matured for four years after the harvest and in this time the wine must spend at least two years in a wooden barrel and four months in the bottle. Obviously, these two periods of time do not add up to four years and this gives individual wine makers some freedom to vary how much time the wine spends
